Being a TreeFrog Graduate myself, it was a given that I was going to send my children here. Joining the board was an afterthought but it’s been a fulfilling experience, and I’m happy to have gained the friendships of fellow board members and parents. Working full time at our Local Credit Union, I felt that I brought great advice to our little non-profit along with having a little more say in the cause and effect of my daughter's everyday life at TreeFrog. While she is now in School, I’m happy to be able to stay on as a member of the board. As we recently found out that were expecting, it was an easy decision for me to commit to staying on and continuing to give back and eventually have our second attend such a great organization.
As we witnessed with our Daughter's time here, the staff are like Family and truly take interest in your child’s life. My daughter Addison has made lifelong friendships here and can only hope it will come full circle for her kids when that day comes.

When our daughter came to Tree Frog over 2 years ago, I really understood the value and importance of quality childcare on Salt Spring Island. I joined the Board at the time when Tree Frog was closing due to staff shortages. As Board members, we strived to re-open the daycare for the children, families and staff members. I am very honoured to be a part of such a hard-working team to have made that happen. I am also grateful for all the community support that helped Tree Frog re-open, and the continuous support helping the daycare recover from the closure. Our daughter asks every day, "Is it a Tree Frog day?" If it were up to her, everyday would be a Tree Frog day! That shows me that she is loves her daycare. She has made great friends and the staff are supportive, kind, patient and truly - the best early childcare educators out there!

Tess has lived on Salt Spring for 10 years now after moving from Victoria where she completed her BComm degree at UVic. She is a Commercial Banker with Clients all over Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. As a mother of two young children, she was honoured to join the Board of Directors in the fall of 2024 in order to help support the daycare that provides so much for our community.

We are so grateful to be a part of this beautiful community of curious children, loving parents, and caring, well-educated staff members. Both of our children currently attend Treefrog and every time we drop them off we are reminded why we come here… both kids are always greeted with open arms, a huge smile and an honest “I’m so happy to see you today!”. I joined the board in the Spring of 2022 when the daycare was headed into a shut down due to a staff shortage. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to give back in some small way to a foundation that has given our family so much.

My daughter started in the baby room, and graduated into kindergarten. Now my son has taken over, also starting in the baby room and is currently in the older section. It has been 5 years of daycare through both of my children, and I’m happy to serve on the board to keep this great program running smoothly!

Since my daughter joined Tree Frog, I've seen her development, creativity and independence grow hugely, which I think largely in part is due to the awesome staff and wonderful learning environment they have created. Joining the board of directors was my way of being part of, and contributing back to, this little community that I'm grateful to be a proud member of.
